New Patients

When you walk into Humber Chiropractic Clinic, you’ll see kids running around, parents chatting, people laying on the adjusting table and everyone enjoying themselves. We like to keep things fun and relaxed in our office though we take improving your health seriously. Below, you can read more about what to expect when you become our patient.

How to Prepare

Please bring in any doctor’s reports, bloodwork or imaging such as MRIs, CTs, X-rays or PET scans. You can arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork or print these forms off our website and bring them in completed. Loose-fitting clothing is best to wear to your first appointment.

When you arrive you’ll be greeted by Sheila and Ginger. They’ve been waiting for you and are excited to meet you!

You’ll sit down with your chiropractor to take a focused history. This information will help us determine if you’re a candidate for a type of care. We’ll perform a series of testing including postural analysis, leg length checks and palpating for muscle spasms. Then, we’ll do a diagnostic examination. If we feel that we can assist you, we’ll move on with taking X-rays. Images will be taken of your area of pain and the top bone of the spine from the side, front and top for a 3D view.

Afterward, we’ll analyze your X-rays on a large television with you so that you can see what we see. You’ll learn how your spine is misaligned and why that’s creating problems for you. We’ll also go over how we plan to correct it. You’ll lie in a relaxed position to have your chiropractic adjustment. Next, we’ll reassess you with testing to make sure there is no misalignment left. In total, this appointment takes about an hour and a half.

One visit isn’t enough to make sure that your body will hold the adjustment. You may even see a return of your symptoms within a day or two of your adjustment. You’ll return for a recheck in the first couple of weeks of care to make sure that your misalignment has been reduced. As you continue holding the adjustment, we’ll space out your visits more.

The goal is to have you come to see us four times a year in total. You see your dentist twice a year though you only use your teeth to eat meals. Your spine, however, is always in use. It requires regular upkeep to stay healthy.
